Do I need well water testing in the Charleston area?
If your home is on a private well in Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester County, testing is the only way to know what you are drinking, since well water is not treated by a city utility. We test first and recommend treatment based on the results.
Is it hard water or is my water contaminated?
Hard water is a nuisance issue: scale on fixtures, spotty glassware, and poor soap lather, and a softener handles it. Contamination is different, such as bacteria, iron, sulfur odors, or chemicals, and it calls for filtration, RO, or UV. A test tells us which problem you actually have before anything gets installed.
What does a home water test actually tell you?
A test shows what is in the water at your tap: hardness, pH, iron, sulfur, sediment, and other contaminants of concern. Those results tell us whether you need a softener, a filter, reverse osmosis, UV, or nothing at all, so you are not paying to treat a problem you do not have.
