Challenge
Studio K was building out a brand-new hair salon and needed a plumbing system designed around specialized commercial beauty fixtures — including hair washing stations and a foot spa — in a space with a concrete floor and limited existing infrastructure. The layout required creative routing to keep drain lines out of the finished floor, and the project called for adaptable solutions when the original fixture plan changed mid-build.
Solution
PlumbX completed a full plumbing upfit tailored to the salon’s needs. Drain lines for two hair washing stations were run through the ceiling and connected to a macerator pump for discharge, eliminating the need to cut the finished concrete floor. Hot and cold PEX water lines were installed throughout. When the foot spa pump installation was revised, PlumbX adapted the scope on-site: a new drain line and water lines were run for a laundry sink and faucet in the water heater room instead, and the sink and faucet were installed once fixtures arrived. Additional work included connecting the foot spa to an existing drain, installing a whole-unit shut-off valve, replacing angle stops on both hot and cold supply lines, adding a new P-trap, and installing a new toilet. All connections were leak-tested and verified before handoff.
Results
Studio K received a fully functional, code-compliant plumbing system built around their specific fixture requirements. The ceiling-routed drain lines and macerator pump solution preserved the finished floor and saved the cost of concrete cutting. The salon opened with all stations operational and no plumbing deficiencies.
