Challenge

A renovation project at a federal Department of State facility — Consulate Affairs Building C in North Charleston — required complete removal of the existing waste, vent, and domestic water piping within the project area before follow-on trades could begin. The work had to meet all applicable federal codes, ordinances, and standards, with zero margin for error on a government job site. PlumbX was brought in by general contractor Harbor Services, Inc. to handle the plumbing demolition scope.

Solution

PlumbX conducted a thorough site investigation prior to demolition to confirm existing conditions before any work began. The team systematically removed all waste, vent, and domestic water piping within the designated project area, cutting and capping water lines and making minor concrete repairs to walls and floors as needed to leave surfaces flush, smooth, and ready for follow-on construction. All work was performed in strict accordance with applicable codes and coordinated with the general contractor to maintain the project schedule.

Results

The plumbing demolition was completed cleanly and on time, leaving the building ready for the next phase of renovation. Surfaces were properly patched and prepared, eliminating any rework requirements for follow-on trades. PlumbX’s ability to execute precision plumbing demolition within a federally managed facility — meeting government standards and working within a general contractor’s tight coordination requirements — reflects the level of professionalism the project demanded.
